La Massana is a parish where visitors can enjoy nature
to the full, with family or friends. Towering over La Massana, is Mount
Comapedrosa, at 2,942 metres the highest peak in the Principality of Andorra.
The views from this great rock giant are absolutely spectacular, and
Comapedrosa is also the site of the only guarded mountain refuge in the
country.
Even the most demanding visitor will be satisfied by
the huge range of activities available at La Massana. There are several
Romanesque churches in the parish, including Sant Cristòfol d’Anyós and Sant
Climent de Pal. In the village itself, too, is a Romanesque Interpretation
Centre where visitors can obtain a clear, educational introduction to this
style and examples of it in Andorra. Regarding museums, Casa Rull in Sispony
provides us a glimpse of everyday life in a wealthy farming family in the
nineteenth century. However, the jewel in La Massana’s crown as museums go is
the Rossell Forge, where visitors learn how one of the most important forges in
the country worked.
As for food and drink, La Massana is a mountain
cuisine destination, characterised by dishes in which pork, poultry, game,
mushrooms and vegetables are the main ingredients. There are many traditional
restaurants all over the parish, whilst the local shops sell a huge range of
goods, from typical sausage products to the latest fashion trends.
